Love the reference to the Kool Aid (cf Ken Kesey). Gene Ray is a bonafide "eff'n'" idiot and hasn't a clue of what he's talking about.
Well, we all know that - don't we? These people keep popping up all over the place and the breadth of subject matter keeps qrowing.
Being born in 1950 (the year of the rhombic dodecahedron) I grew up through the hippie generation, and yes, I did inhale. One of my favourite mindgames was in the area of solid geometry and I always had trouble with the concept of the fourth dimension. So let's clear this up. By simple reductionism, space can be reduced to a minimum of three orthogonal dimensions (ie "spatial dimensions") The fourth dimension of time is NOT a spatial dimension. Let's be clear about this.
However this doesn't mean that there can't be alternate breakdowns of space that allow for more than three dimensions. The next simplest is a four axis system which I call 4-axis. This can be described very simply. Take a cube and draw lines through each of four pairs of diagonally opposite vertices. Voila! 4-axis.
But why would you bother? The answer to that in quite fascinating, but certainly neither magic, mystical, contains no conspiracies (and no polyhedra were harmed in this explanation). It's just not taught in schools or any other institutions. (AFAIK)

To take this further you need a tiny bit of familiarisation with a few simple polyhedra (or Platonic solids), and the concept of duality.
All regular polyhedra have duals - the dual of any shape has a face where a vertex was and a vertex where a face was. An example would be a cube and an octahedron (just octa will do). Take either and imagine truncating every vertex towards the centre and well, see (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dual_polyhedron) you'll see that each shape turns into its dual
Now this is very basic stuff and is not taught in schools more through tradition than conspiracy.

Idiots like Gene Ray really only serve to confuse any kind of scientific approach to the general person on the street and make me not just a bit bit angry.

There is much more to understanding this universe than assuming everything is a bloody evil conspiracy.. Reality itself provides quite enough of that.
