A recent article on diyphotography.net talks about the awesome idea of taking apart an old DVD burner, and using the lens to take macro photos with your cell phone's camera. I just couldn't resist trying this myself, but all I had was an old CD burner (not DVD). Nevertheless, the lens did the job well, and the photos I was able to take with the camera in my Motorola RAZR V3xx (1.3mp) turned out pretty great:

I actually regularly do this with the eyepiece lens from a cheap pair of binoculars, blu-tak-ed onto the zoom lens of my stills camera. Works amazingly well, you can even use the zoom for even more magnification. I often have to take engineering photos of electronic parts I can barely see; this is a hell of a lot quicker than using the "proper" camera!
