The idea: using highway rumble strips to produce music!
Dude, it’s amazing! You’re driving along the highway, and along comes a sharp turn. Right before the sharp turn, naturally, there will be rumble strips to warn you about the turn, with the boring and monotone “rrrrr…. rrrrr… rrrrr” sound produced by your tires. Wouldn’t it be much more exciting if the rumble strips were modulated such that they’d produce a little melody? Or, better yet, they can “speak” a brief message like, “Warning!” or, “Toll booth ahead!” in a deep Darth Vader-like voice!
How about it, ODOT?

Are you sure you didn’t hear about this idea elsewhere? thought about this about a year ago… you could have the highways play songs… but think about it, here in the USA you would have corporations buying the rights to miles of highways for their sonic advertising through your tires. You would hear the Microsoft Windows arpeggio or the four-note Intel chimes pipe through your chassis every few miles no doubt. Perhaps an idea best left to die along the roadside…

This link shows that it’s already been done, where else but in Japan… http://www.we-make-money-not-art.com/archives/004449.php
